Another Wave of Empty Hype or Serious Conflict with Iran?

Download MP3: (High Quality)(Low Quality)
The conflicts between the United States And Iran is real, but is war really the answer? Iranican Live is on the case and delves into this contentious issue. [Iranican is not and does not intend to become a political show, however we find it important as Iranian-Americans to stay politically conscious about the current events. The goal of such discussions are for us to have at least some awareness about important issues that concerns Iran .]

The U.S. media hyping up the conflict with Iran. The Iranian government seeking nuclear power and not giving in to international demands. Iranian-Americans of all backgrounds are speaking out, some for a military conflict, but the overwhelming majority against it.

When is war with Iran justified? Is it ever justified?

And what can we, as Iranian-Americans, do as a community to make sure our voices are heard and to meet our shared goals? Babak Talebi from the National Iranian-American Council (www.niacouncil.org) joins us from Washington D.C. to share his thoughts.

Obviously, the show does not have the viewpoints of some in our community. For example, we didn’t have a female voice on this show to give us a potentially different perspective. So please make sure to comment on this blog with your thoughts and feedback.

We would like to dedicate this show to all our family back in Iran. We love you all!

  1. As far as i know the 2006 lebanon war was direct result of Hizbullah breaching border and attacking military posts and then abducting two dead bodies and announce them that they are alive.
irans direct sponsring of hizbullah and hamas militias are the real reason that we iranians are in this situation, otherwise before revolution israel was training our soldiers and they had good relation. (and dont tell me that these groups are defending themselves) remember 1947-1967-2000 negotiations. they were offered their own land and country but they didn’t accept and instead arabs attacked.
better know the facts before running a radio show.

  2. I’m not sure I have time to go into lengths about why you’re an idiot, so I’ll say that your argument is circular and has strong hints of racism behind it. I’m not going to justify Iran’s actions, but neither am I going to say that Iran is solely to blame for its relationship with Israel. Israel has a policy in the Middle East to maintain its strength and to prevent other countries from challenging it. This is an explicit policy Israel has enunciated through political circles. Also your characterization that the negotiations with Arabs was to give them their land back is one of the backwards understandings of history. To give 10-15% of one’s country back to them is not tantamount to “giving their land back.”
Get your facts straight before you spit such nonsense at me.

  3. Come on guys. Let’s keep the comments on the topic, and free from insults and personal attacks.

  4. I’m sorry my spit bothered you, those people (jews) had as much right to a homeland as the arabs. there were no official country as israel-palestine-jordon–they were arabs and jews. the UN clearly divided the land, but god forbid, they couldn’t tolerate bunch of jews running their own country. thats why arab league attacked. back then there were not talking of palestinians, in fact arab league invited the current so called palstinians to their own country promising to “throw the jews to the sea” and then they can go back. for 20 years they tried but failed..then suddenly plo was created and palestine was born,,,im not racist, there are arabs who are living in israel and have full citizenship and they are always welcomed as long as they put their guns down. but look at it there are 7 arab country and 1 tiny country, no one should sleep at night worrying that they might have too much land.
i don’t understand why iranians are falling for the regime propaganda machine..israel was one of the few countries that sold arms to iran during the war, they both attacked osirak reactor. if they really worried about their muslim brothers, invite them to iran.
its been proven, if israel put down his guns, it’ll stop to exist.

  5. We could have a whole show on how f’ed up the Israeli-Palestinian issue is who is to blame.

What more important is: why has the Iranian foreign policy always been against the state of Israel? From what I’ve ready, during the Shah’s time, Iran had many connections and relationships with Israel, but all behind the scenes because the Shah thought that the public would be against recognition of Israel. After the revolution, we also saw that Iran maintained some connections with Israel, even as it was spewing hate speech at it. Its after the first Persian Gulf War, it seems, that this connection was really, truly cut, and Israel and Iran were no longer communicating.

There are multiple camps of argument against Israel. One is purely religiously based: that the land of Israel belongs to Mulsims, according to the Koran and other holy scripts. This argument, to me, is silly, because basing one’s foreign policy on one religious strain of thought is limiting and ignorant of the real world around you. That’s why theocracy is a failure, and why the IRI is a failing government.

The other argument against Israel is a moral one. How can a nation claim to be democratic when it spends the majority of its efforts to promote a single group of people? Israel proudly says its a ‘Jewish State’, and yet people don’t step back and consider how racist that statement is. The Jewish people have suffered enough, must they suffer through a blind racist government that will divide people instead of bridging gaps and celebrating diversity? Israel’s systematic removal of the Palestinian people has given more heat to the argument that the Israeli government is a racist state. Good thing is that most Israelis are probably not very racist, but simply afraid and ignorant of their beautiful neighbors next door. But in order to keep the power, the Zionist elements in the Israeli government are doing as much as they can so Israel is always seen as under direct threat. And if they say it just enough times, it just may become more and more true.

A proper relationship with Israel would only be possible when the Iranian government itself becomes more democratic and less theocratic. But at this point, we’ve got extremists on both sides, and neither side has it right.

  6. ZEiman ,
I understand your point, but then again thats just misinformation. israel population is very diverse, there are people from Malaysia-Indonesia . and other south eastern asia that are muslim, they have no problem with each other. but some close minded people just dont wanna accept it. the Jewish state slogan is necessary to tell the world that jews are actually have somebody to count on-if there was a state during world wars and centuries before that, maybe millions wouldn’t have been perished.
don’t believe what im saying look at here,
    http://www.middle-east-info.org/gateway/arabsinisrael/index.htm
Israelis govt are not even that religious and they dont see bible as their code of law( otherwise the whole country would shutdown on Saturday). i wouldn’t see them as extremist…the mullahs dont represent iranians. they just want to rule the Islamic world and they couldn’t find better than pinpoint israel and US- otherwise more muslim were killed by their own brothers than by Israelis.
