Do you know where and when was the first Iranian Student Organization formed in America? Good, because we couldn’t find it, so share it with us here. With a visit to the pre-revolution life of Iranian Students in the US, we kick off the show with a question: Should Iranian Student Organizations have both political and religious events or not? This is a record breaking show with 5 guests. They include the president of PSA at Stanford, Mohammad Hekmat; the president of ISAA at Berkeley; a board member of ISCO at Berkeley; as well as the president of ICC at SFSU. We discuss the decision to call the student group an Iranian or a Persian organization. Finally, Iranican releases its official criteria to creating a legitimate Iranian Student Organization and here they are in writing:
1. Speak Persian at all meetings.
2. Come to a consensus on spelling Know-Rooz, yes that’s Iranican’s official spelling: Know your Rooz
3. Come up with a uniform for meetings involving at least half a body’s worth of Iran’s national fashion color, black
4. Start every meeting with Dokhtar Bandari by Shahram K.
5. Put a limit on the number of friends every candidate can bring to the elections meeting
6. Elections will no longer have office positions but board members whom decide the position themselves
7. At least more than half of the board/officers need have spent most of their life in Iran
8. Make the biggest guy in the organization straighten his hair, wear a tight black Armani Exchange shirt, “Allah” tattoo on his bicep, and a 4 ounce gold Farvahar necklace, the outreach coordinator of the club.
9. If your official student adviser is not Iranian get an unofficial Iranian one
10. Be both religious and political
